Available from the 18th October 2013 the Teratrend RS431U is a 4 bay rackmount device capable of supporting up to 16TB of storage.
With an MRSP of $364.65 (excl. VAT) the RS431U is going to support up to four 4 Terabyte hard drives in either Raid 0,1,3,5 and 10 using Sata III -6Gb/s connectors.
For connectivity you get both a USB 3.0 port and an eSata port. Here is what Silverstone have to say about the product:
"SilverStone created an incredible four bay 1U rackmount storage product in the RS431U. It connects to the PC via 5Gbps SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface or 3Gbps eSATA interface which enables data transfer with maximum compatibility and stability. A full range of RAID modes (RAID 0, 1, 3, 5, 10, Combine, Clear RAID) is supported to provide the best security and performance for your hard drives. The RS431U offers a convenient and economical way to store data and is suitable for all users that require frequent backup and data manipulation."
The RS431 is a very interesting product for me as it is obviously rack mountable but also is perfect for people who don't want a big chunky 4 bay external storage device, this will fit quite nicely underneath a monitor, HTPC style system or as previously stated, in a rack. It also features plug and play functionality along with screw-less design for HDD installation.
As previously stated the RS431U will be available from October 18th at an MRSP of $364.65, for further information check out Silverstone's product page on their Teratrend brand website here.
