Sony MDR-ZX-300 white headphones Written Review

The First impressions of these headphones is that they are of high quality in some areas but look really disappointing in others.
Picture
Here’s the spec:

  • Open air type no
  • Dynamic type yes
  • Circum Aural type no
  • capacity (mW) 1000
  • Driver unit 30mm
  • Diaphragm PET
  • Frequency (Hz) 10-24,000
  • Sensitivity (dB/mW) 102
  • Magnet Neodynium
  • Impedance (Ohm) 24
  • Volume control no
  • Cord type both sided
  • Cord length (m) 1.2
  • Plug Gold-plated L-shaped Stereo 3.5mm
  • Weight (g) 120
Design: Starting from the cable up, the 3.5mm headphone jack is right angled.

Great for when you put your device in your pocket. This also works as protection to the cable inside as on a straight connector if it’s bent too much the wire starts to fray.
Picture
The cups overall are good. In fact most of it is amazing apart from the foam pads. Honestly the pads are terrible.
Picture
They are so ugly and cheap feeling it’s quite depressing considering the rest of the product. The hinge swivels and tilts. The cups feels robust and are good in quality as a whole.
Picture
The headband and sliders are simplistic and rather impressive. There is a red band to show which side is left and right.
Picture
A light and small headband that you easily forget is even on your head would be a perfect sentence to sum up the headband not forgetting to mention how surprisingly strong they are.

Performance: This part is really disappointing. Bass is quite low on these but I wouldn’t say that’s surprising. It seems with these headphones that the volume needs to be higher than normal before they start to show any level of performance I would be happy with.

Noise cancelling is also poor, probably due to the soft ear pads and thin flexible headband. Sound isolation however seems really impressive. The only time I have ever really noticed any sound leakage was on an empty street in the middle of the night. Yes I test my headphones that thoroughly.

Conclusion: Good looking headphones with disappointing sound quality. Only really good for people who want them for the looks.

Verdict:

Rating- 4/10

Value- 6/10
